As designer for this project, I focused on integrating advanced technology with user-centric design principles to address common challenges faced by drivers and passengers. Our team prioritized privacy, immersive sound without the clutter, and intelligent interfaces that adapt to user needs and driving modes. By embedding these technologies into the car’s infrastructure, we have crafted a driving experience that feels both intuitive and luxurious. This project has been a remarkable opportunity to push the boundaries of automotive design and deliver solutions that make everyday interactions with technology seamless and more enjoyable.
Pain Points Addressed:
• Privacy and Distraction: Users were concerned about privacy between drivers and passengers and potential distractions from visible screens.
• Sound Quality and Source: There was a need for immersive sound without visible speakers, similar to complaints from earlier car models.
• Information Overload: Users found the clutter of continuous information on displays distracting and stressful.
• Usability in Different Modes: The need for functionality that adapts between manual and autonomous driving.
New Features and Solutions:
• Privacy Screens: The design includes separate driver and passenger screens that ensure privacy and reduce distractions.
• Immersive Sound System: Sound plays from hidden speakers under the panels, providing a source-less audio experience.
• Smart Widget Panels: Widgets adapt based on user preference and situation, learning from user habits, and displaying only relevant information, all stored in the cloud for seamless use across vehicles.
• Autonomous Mode Enhancements: In this mode, the central main screen displays entertainment, while touch panels with haptic feedback allow control without looking.
• Efficient Storage Solutions: Innovative storage options like hidden drink holders and secure compartments enhance usability and maintain a clean aesthetic.
