Analysis of Customer Pain Points and New Features in Whole Self Library Management
Designing the Whole Self Library Management interface was about empowering administrators with the tools they need to manage complex data with simplicity and precision. We tackled the challenges of integrating diverse data sources and managing attributes by creating a more adaptable and intuitive system. The new features not only address the pain points our users faced but also enhance their ability to execute tasks more efficiently and accurately. Our goal was to deliver a product that not only meets today’s needs but also adapts to future demands, ensuring that our solution remains at the forefront of technological advancement in library management.
Customer Pain Points:
• Complexity in managing diverse data sources - Administrators faced challenges in managing both internal and external data sources effectively within the system.
• Inadequate attribute management - The need for more dynamic management of attributes, including adding, editing, and removing attributes, as well as setting up parent/child relationships.
• Inflexible proficiency level scales - The inability to customize proficiency level scales according to specific attributes, and difficulty in translating and syncing these across various data points.
• Lack of streamlined workflows - Previous systems lacked robust workflow setups for approval processes, making it cumbersome to manage changes and updates efficiently.
New Features Addressing Pain Points:
• Ingestion Manager - This feature allows for easy configuration of both internal and external data sources and includes functionalities like API key generation, attribute mapping, and a future-proof structure with provisions for upcoming releases.
• Attributes Configuration - Enhanced capabilities to add, edit, and remove attribute types, along with enabling or disabling tags and setting up relationships, which make attribute management more robust and flexible.
• Portfolio Configuration - Introduction of multiple proficiency level scales that can be individually associated with different attribute types, alongside capabilities for easy editing and translating of proficiency levels.
• Enhanced Workflows - New functionalities to set up workflows for critical actions such as adding and editing entries, as well as future capabilities for enabling or disabling workflows, which streamline approval processes and ensure data integrity.
Enhancements in Design:
The new design of the Whole Self Library Management system focuses on simplifying the administrative burden while enhancing the flexibility and control administrators have over data management. The user interface has been redesigned for better usability, providing a more intuitive and responsive experience. The system now supports a more granified attribute and data source management, allowing for greater customization and precision in handling company-specific needs.
